{"id":2869,"date":"2017-01-05T15:23:41","date_gmt":"2017-01-05T05:23:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.celestialtaichi.com.au\/?p=2869"},"modified":"2017-04-25T15:55:45","modified_gmt":"2017-04-25T05:55:45","slug":"tai-chi-and-ballroom-dancing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wrcsites.com.au\/ctc\/tai-chi-and-ballroom-dancing\/","title":{"rendered":"Tai Chi and Ballroom Dancing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2870 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.celestialtaichi.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/090205-sd-donc-flute.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"133\" \/>Since 2001, my Monday mornings have been spent at the Box Hill Centre with Senior Instructor Beng Yan, learning Yang Style Tai Chi Levels 1 to 6, Fan, Sword, Flute, Beijing 24 and 42 and any other delight she has to offer. My fitness, balance and wellbeing have been the beneficiaries and, at 60, I believe Tai Chi has helped me to keep me very fit for my age.<\/p>\n<p>About three years ago, my husband and I decided to pursue a long-held passion &#8211; ballroom dancing. One form of ballroom dancing that was developed in Australia is called &#8220;New Vogue&#8221;. You may know it as &#8220;Old Time&#8221;, however &#8220;New Vogue&#8221; is highly stylised and involves much use of the dancers arms and hands.<\/p>\n<p>I discovered that my efforts to emulate Beng Yan&#8217;s beautiful arm and hand movements transferred seamlessly into my &#8220;New Vogue&#8221; dancing.
